Your electricity supply: information for embedded network customers
Paradise Lake Resort supplies electricity to residents through an embedded network. This page explains how that works, your rights, and important changes to your protections coming into effect on 1 July 2026.
What is an embedded network?
An embedded network is a private electricity network that serves multiple premises within a single site — such as an apartment block, retirement village, caravan park or shopping centre. The site takes its electricity from the main grid through a single connection point and on-sells it to the residents and tenants within the site.
We sell your electricity to you as an exempt seller, authorised under the Australian Energy Regulator's (AER) exempt selling framework.
You have the right to choose your electricity retailer
Even though you live in an embedded network, you can choose to buy your electricity from an authorised retailer of your choice instead of from us. There may be costs or practical steps involved in switching.
The AER explains how this works, and how to access a retailer of your choice, in its official fact sheet:

What you pay
The price you pay for electricity is capped — we cannot charge you more than the standing offer price you would pay if you were supplied by the local area retailer. Your bill may include network charges (the regulated cost of delivering electricity, which a distributor is entitled to charge).

Changes to your protections from 1 July 2026
New national energy rules strengthen protections for customers. From 1 July 2026, you can expect:
- Price certainty when discounts end — if a benefit or discount on your plan changes or expires, you won't be charged more than the standing offer price.
- Fewer price increases — prices can generally only rise once every 12 months.
- Discounts honoured in full — conditional discounts (for example, pay-on-time) are applied even if you don't meet the condition.
- Fairer fees — fees are limited to the reasonable cost of providing the service, and certain fees are removed. Customers experiencing hardship, payment difficulty or family violence will not be charged any fees
other than network charges.
- A free way to pay — at least one free payment method will always be available.
- Extra support — we maintain a hardship policy and a family-violence support policy for customers who need help.
